A zirconia crown (E-max) is a premium aesthetic prosthetic solution known as “layered zirconia” — fabricated by layering and firing E-max porcelain (IPS e.max Ceram, lithium disilicate) onto a zirconia core. This combination unites the best properties of both materials: the zirconia core — high mechanical strength (900–1,200 MPa), durability in bridges and biocompatibility; the E-max ceramic layer — perfect light transmission (translucency), imitation of the internal optical properties of natural teeth and the highest level of aesthetics. Unlike a “monolithic” zirconia crown, this is a more finely crafted product requiring an artistic approach. At BadamDent it is fabricated in a professional laboratory by internationally renowned ceramists — every crown is created like an individual work of art. Treatment protocol: detailed aesthetic consultation and smile design (DSD), photo protocol, shade analysis (VITA, Easyshade), minimal tooth preparation (1.5–2 mm), digital intraoral scan, temporary crown, laboratory milling of the zirconia core and layered firing of E-max porcelain (5–7 days), several try-ins and aesthetic corrections, final try-in and adhesive cementation. Advantages: the most natural appearance, reproducing every internal colour nuance and play of light; downside — longer fabrication time and a higher price.
