Standard wisdom tooth extraction is the simple removal of a fully erupted third molar whose roots are completely visible. Wisdom teeth sit at the very back of the jaw and are often poorly cleaned during everyday hygiene, leading to caries, gingivitis and pericoronitis. They also commonly cause hidden decay on the back surface of the neighbouring second molar, which can ultimately mean losing that tooth as well. For these reasons, symptomatic or hard-to-clean wisdom teeth should be extracted in good time. This protects overall oral health and avoids more complex procedures later. At BadamDent the procedure goes as follows: a clinical and radiographic examination first clarifies the root anatomy and its relationship to nearby nerves. Local anaesthesia is administered, then the tooth is separated from the periodontal ligament with a fine luxator and delivered with forceps using controlled movements. The whole procedure is completed in 20–30 minutes. The wound is sutured with minimal trauma and a gauze tampon is placed. Post-operative pain is easily managed with standard analgesics and usually resolves within 1–2 days. Swelling is minimal. Diet and hygiene instructions are provided in writing. Phone support is available within the first 24 hours. Healing takes 5–7 days. After extraction, the BadamDent team contacts you within 24 hours and monitors the healing process. If you have any discomfort or if painkillers do not help, you can reach us immediately — comfortable and safe recovery is our top priority. Implant or prosthesis planning following the extraction is discussed in the same visit. Suture removal is provided free of charge.
