A soft (nylon) jaw prosthesis is a modern denture made from a flexible material. Unlike classic acrylic prostheses, the base is made from a polyamide-based bioplastic (nylon), giving the material outstanding elasticity and softness. Material brands: Valplast, Acetal, Bioplast, Flexite. Key advantages over classic acrylic: more comfortable and gentle on the gums — no point pressure, minimal irritation; fully hypoallergenic — no risk of allergic reactions, which is critically important for patients allergic to acrylic or metal; retention clasps are made from gum-coloured elastic material and are practically invisible — very high aesthetics; lighter and less “present” in the mouth; the risk of fracture or cracking is practically zero — the material does not break even if dropped; provides a more natural and comfortable feeling while eating. Ideal for: partial edentulism (an aesthetic anchor preserving remaining teeth), patients with allergy issues, patients who feel discomfort from classic acrylic and patients who value aesthetics (women, younger patients). At BadamDent flexible prostheses are made with functional impressions and precise occlusal registration. Treatment takes 2–3 weeks. Pros: comfort and aesthetics. Cons: relining is more difficult, so replacement may be needed if gum atrophy occurs; price is slightly higher than classic acrylic. Service life 5–7 years.
