Implant-Supported Metal-Ceramic

Implant-Supported Metal-Ceramic

Implant-supported metal-ceramic restoration is a metal-ceramic crown placed on an implant after its placement and osseointegration. It is the most widely used and time-tested method for fully restoring the function and aesthetics of a lost tooth. Treatment protocol: 3–6 months after implant placement (after osseointegration) the implant is uncovered and a gum former is placed — this lasts 2–4 weeks and shapes the gum emergence profile. Then an impression is taken at the implant level (with an analogue tray or digital scan body). In the laboratory a custom abutment is fabricated — the transitional element between implant and crown. Unlike standard prefabricated abutments, a custom abutment is fully adapted to each patient's gum shape and height — significantly improving aesthetic and hygienic outcomes. The metal-ceramic crown is then placed on the abutment as either a screw-retained or cement-retained restoration. At BadamDent we prefer screw retention — if any future issue arises, the crown can be easily removed and re-fitted. The prosthetic part of treatment takes 2–3 visits, 3–4 weeks in total. Advantages: durable and affordable, 100% restoration of chewing function, trouble-free service for years. Aesthetic downside: in the anterior zone a metallic shadow may appear at the gum margin, so zirconia or E-max alternatives are recommended in the aesthetic zone. Service life 10–15 years. BadamDent provides a written 5-year warranty.
