Dental Prosthesis (Classic)

Dental Prosthesis (Classic)

A dental prosthesis (classic removable) is the oldest and most proven restorative option for multiple tooth loss or complete edentulism. Although modern dentistry usually recommends implantation, removable prostheses are still the most accessible and fastest treatment option in most situations. The prosthesis is made in two main types: a complete prosthesis (when all teeth in a jaw are lost) and a partial prosthesis (when several teeth are lost and the remaining ones are used as anchors). The material is quality dental acrylic (PMMA — polymethyl methacrylate); artificial teeth are made of modern ceramic-acrylic composite. At BadamDent prostheses are fabricated step by step: initial consultation and examination, anatomical impressions (alginate or silicone), preliminary wax-up model, functional impressions and occlusal registration, aesthetic and functional tooth selection (shade, shape, size), try-in, final fit and adjustments. The treatment takes 2–3 weeks in total. In modern complete prostheses a “suction effect” provides firm in-mouth retention. Partial prostheses use either classic metal clasps or aesthetic, less visible attachments (locator, ball, bar). Between a rigid acrylic and a flexible (nylon) prosthesis, the dentist helps select the optimal option based on the patient's anatomy, budget and aesthetic requirements. Regular check-ups are recommended — gum atrophy may change the fit of the prosthesis over time. Service life 5–7 years, after which relining or replacement may be needed.
