Implant Removal

Implant Removal

Implant removal is the specialised surgical extraction of an implant due to failed osseointegration, peri-implantitis (inflammation of bone and soft tissue around the implant), mechanical fracture, improper positioning or the patient's aesthetic demands. It requires extremely delicate surgical technique and modern equipment because the goal is to remove the implant while preserving as much surrounding bone as possible for future re-implantation. BadamDent uses dedicated reverse-torque devices (Neobiotech ISRA, BTI) — these instruments apply controlled counter-rotation to the implant and extract it without damaging the bone. The classic trephine method is used only as a last resort, since it causes greater bone loss. Treatment protocol: a CBCT first reveals the implant's condition, bone level and relationship to surrounding structures. In peri-implantitis cases, inflammation is treated in parallel. After local anaesthesia (with sedation if needed) a gum flap is raised and the implant is gently removed with the reverse-torque device. The bony socket is thoroughly cleaned, infection foci are eliminated and antibacterial irrigation is performed. Bone material (Bio-Oss, autogenous bone) and PRF are placed at the same time or after 4–6 months. The wound is closed with aesthetic sutures. Once the bone is fully regenerated (4–9 months), a new, more suitable implant is placed. The whole process is planned meticulously from start to finish.
