Gum recession treatment is a modern microsurgical procedure performed when the gum margin migrates apically and the tooth root becomes exposed. Causes of recession: aggressive tooth brushing, consequences of orthodontic treatment, periodontitis, anatomical features and trauma. This disturbs the aesthetics of the tooth, increases sensitivity (the root surface is not covered by enamel and the dentin is exposed), raises the risk of root caries and causes psychological discomfort. At BadamDent recession treatment is performed using world-class microsurgical techniques — the tunnel technique of Drs. Pini Prato and Zucchelli, CAF (Coronally Advanced Flap) based on Dr. Langer, or the tunnel + CTG technique of Dr. Allen. The treatment protocol is selected individually: a coronally advanced flap (coronal repositioning of soft tissue), a connective tissue graft (CTG for thickness and volume), the VISTA technique (minimally invasive tunnel) or an alternative xenogeneic collagen matrix (Mucograft, Geistlich). The procedure is performed under local anaesthesia and takes 60–120 minutes. Microsurgical instruments, 10–15× magnification and ultra-fine sutures (6-0, 7-0) are used. Healing takes 2–3 weeks. Outcome: the gum returns to its natural level, aesthetics are restored, sensitivity resolves and the risk of root caries decreases. With proper case selection success rates are 90–95%. To ensure a lasting result, we teach the correct hygiene habits.
