Pediatric crown restoration is a modern paediatric prosthetic method used to save severely damaged baby teeth. Sometimes caries destroys more than half of a tooth, or after pulpotomy/pulpectomy the tooth needs full protection — in such cases a regular filling is not enough. Pediatric crowns protect the tooth and preserve its function until the permanent tooth erupts. BadamDent offers two types: 1) Stainless steel pediatric crowns (SSC — Stainless Steel Crown) — “3M ESPE Pre-formed Crown” or equivalents. These are prefabricated in various sizes and placed in a single visit. Excellent strength, no fractures, long service life. Downside: silver-coloured, so aesthetically problematic in the front zone — they are ideal for posterior teeth; 2) Zirconia pediatric crowns (NuSmile Zr, Kinder Krowns) — a new generation of aesthetic prefabricated crowns. Fully white, imitate natural tooth appearance, low bacterial adhesion, biocompatible. Ideal for the anterior and posterior zone. Treatment protocol: local anaesthesia, minimal tooth preparation (spherical form), selection of the right-sized crown (paediatric crowns are prefabricated and do not require a laboratory), try-in and temporary fitting, then permanent cementation (glass-ionomer cement — Fuji IX, RelyX). Treatment is completed in a single 30–60 minute visit. The crown serves trouble-free until natural exfoliation (4–8 years), then falls out naturally as the permanent tooth erupts. This is the best example of a “fast, reliable, painless” approach.
