Sedation

Sedation

Sedation is a modern, gentle and safe anaesthesia technique that keeps the patient fully relaxed and comfortable throughout treatment. It is completely different from general anaesthesia — the patient remains conscious but deeply relaxed, feels no pain or discomfort and does not “remember” the procedure. At BadamDent we use modern intravenous (IV) sedation — the protocol relies on short-acting, safe agents such as propofol and midazolam. The effect begins within 1 minute and the depth is adjusted by the anaesthesiologist in real time. Ideally addressed clinical situations: patients with dental phobia — 15–20% of the world's population suffers from this; paediatric patients (5+ years) during long and painful treatments; lengthy surgical procedures — multiple implants, bilateral sinus lift, complex wisdom tooth surgery, All-on-4 protocols; patients with high sensitivity or a strong gag reflex; patients with special conditions (Parkinson's, autism, Down syndrome). At BadamDent sedation is administered only by a certified anaesthesiologist — this is an international safety requirement. The patient is under full monitoring throughout the procedure: heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen saturation and ECG. Before the procedure the doctor reviews general health, current medications and possible allergies. The patient recovers within 30–60 minutes; we recommend going home accompanied. For 24 hours after sedation, no driving or important decisions. Sedation turns dental treatment into a comfortable and pleasant experience.
