Dental visiography is a modern digital dental X-ray technique. Unlike classic film X-rays, visiography uses a special sensor — the sensor is placed in the patient's mouth and produces a direct digital image when exposed. The image appears on the computer screen instantly — the patient can observe the problem together with the dentist immediately after the procedure. This dramatically increases the transparency of the treatment process and the clarity of explanations. Main advantages of visiography over classic X-ray: 80–90% lower radiation dose (around 0.005 mSv — less than one day's natural background radiation); environmentally friendly — no chemical developer or film required; significantly higher image quality — magnification, contrast and brightness adjustable on the computer, hidden issues are easily detected; archiving and sharing are easy — the patient can take the image by email or USB; time efficient — results ready in seconds. At BadamDent visiography is used for the following diagnostic purposes: detecting caries (especially hidden interproximal caries), planning and verifying root canal treatment, monitoring implant osseointegration, diagnosing periodontitis, detecting cracked teeth or restoration problems and planning wisdom tooth surgery. The procedure takes 1–2 minutes and is painless. In pregnant patients it is performed only in essential cases and with a dedicated protective apron. Images are stored in the electronic patient record and can be reviewed later when needed.
