Airflow is a patented gentle blasting technology by the Swiss company EMS: a mixture of air, water and ultra-fine powder (sodium bicarbonate or glycine-based erythritol) completely removes pigmentation, bacterial biofilm and soft plaque without harming enamel. Its advantage over classic mechanical polishing is that the Airflow powder is extremely fine and reaches the most difficult zones — interdental spaces, around braces, around implants and just below the gum line. Stains from coffee, tea, tobacco, red wine, curry and beetroot are removed completely. Our modern Airflow Prophylaxis Master unit also works in a subgingival mode, which is invaluable in periodontal treatment. The procedure is painless, completely safe for enamel and suitable even for sensitive teeth — no pain, irritation or post-procedure sensitivity. It is usually performed on the same day as scaling: scaling removes calculus, Airflow attacks pigments and biofilm, and together they create a deep, long-lasting result. Teeth naturally lighten by 1–2 shades and the surface becomes smoother and more resistant to new deposits. The procedure takes 15–25 minutes. Recommended every 4–6 months.
